Day Trips

Round Trip to Kenmare:

So, go out the Muckross Road N 71 and make your first stop at Ladies View. Queen Victoria’s Ladies in Waiting visited here during the Royal Visit in  1861.  They were so impressed with the view that it was named after them..The view from here is simply amazing.  You can see the 3 Lakes and the McGillycuddy Reeks

Now drive on  to Molls Gap.  Stop here and go into Avoca  café/restaurant and sample some Avoca home cooking.  It is really very good.  The view from the upstairs café  is wonderful.

Next, take the spectacular drive down to Kenmare.  It is a beautiful little town with lots of little craft shops and great places to eat.

If you are having a coffee here have it in Maison Gourmet.

If you are having lunch though or anything substantial go to Davitt’s.  All the locals go here.   The food is good and the prices are reasonable.

Might also  like to go to Park Hotel and have a chat with Francis Brennan

Finally come home via  Kilgarvin.   (Michael Healy Rae country)   The rolling countryside here is also very scenic.

On the loop you will see a sign for O’Sullivan’s Cascade. This is a beautiful waterfall flowing into Lough Leane. Legend has it that the waterfall once flowed not with water but with whiskey. Apparently, It was Fionn McCumhaill’s own personal supply.

Dingle: 56 km from Dunloe View, Killarney

Beach Trips from Dunloe View Killarney

Inch Beach : 33 km. from DVK. This is great for a walk. It simply goes on for miles. If you go there have food in Sammy’s or the Hotel on the hill is quite good

Rossbeigh Beach:  28 km from DVK.   Lovely beach for walking or swimming.   Have lunch in the Glenbeigh Hotel.  It is by far the best option in our opinion.

I would choose Rossbeigh Beach if only to visit the Glenbeigh Hotel.
